Bug
Psychic Pokemon have a reputation for being a powerful and challenging type to battle against, with their high Special Attack power and access to a variety of moves. Often, trainers can be overpowered by a Psychic Pokemon, so it’s important to know how to counter them in battle.
Unlike Fire, Water and Poison types, Psychic Pokemon are weak against Bug-types. This is because they take double damage from Ghost, Bug and Dark-type moves. It’s always worth looking for a Pokemon that can learn a Ghost, Bug or Dark move to ensure you have an effective Psychic-type counter in your team.
The reason why Psychic-types are weak against Bug is actually quite interesting. It’s a reflection of the way game developers balance type relationships in Pokemon games.
It used to be that Psychic Pokemon were immune to Ghost attacks (since they were part Poison at the time). This made Psychics super effective against Ghost types and Grass-type Pokemon, which was bad for the game’s balancing.
As a result, generation 2 introduced Dark-type Pokemon to keep Psychics in check. This relationship between Psychic and Dark wasn’t built in reference to a weakness theme, as it would be with Ice vs Grass or Steel vs Fire.
Rather, it was built in reference to a common fear that many people have. Specifically, a phobia of bugs and the dark. It makes sense that a Psychic type would be weak against these things because of the way it uses its mind to get its powers.
Dark
In the world of Pokemon, dark is a term that refers to a deep black color or a shade that is close to black. It can also be used to describe a depressing or grim situation that is difficult to overcome.
Psychic pokemon are typically weak against Bug, Ghost and Dark-type attacks. These three types are based on fears since Psychic-type represents the mind, so they can challenge your concentration and make it more difficult to deal with them.

Ghost- and Dark-type Pokemon are resistant to Psychic-type moves, which means that they’ll only take half of the damage that they would normally receive from a Psychic-type attack. This can be a real pain to deal with, especially if you have a move that relies on a physical attack like Fire or Water.
The only way to truly stop a Psychic-type attack is by using a move that focuses on Physical Attack, such as Flamethrower or Hydro Blast. However, if you want to use a non-physical move on a Psychic-type, then there are other options that will work just as well. Water
